Experience the Wachau
The Wachau on your doorstep
Vine terraces, a winding river valley and picturesque villages — the Wachau is a work of art in itself. Here in Spitz, apricots and vines grow side by side, and the finest excursions begin right on our doorstep.
All around
A landscape shaped by Wine & River
Spitz lies between vine terraces and the Danube — in the heart of the Wachau World Heritage region, at the foot of the Tausendeimerberg, the hill said to have yielded a thousand buckets of wine in a good year. On the water, among the vines or on two wheels: your time out starts right here with us.

Around Spitz
Sights along the way
Spitz is a gem of the Wachau: the ruins of Hinterhaus Castle, once a stronghold of the Kuenring dynasty, look down on the village. The Rotes Tor — the last of seven gates in the old town wall — offers one of the finest views. And in the baroque Erlahof palace, the shipping museum tells the story of Danube navigation.

Right on the doorstep
By boat through the Wachau
The motor vessel “Austria”, the “Queen of the Wachau”, docks practically outside our front door. From Spitz you can cruise comfortably to Dürnstein, Krems or Melk — or take a nostalgic Zille boat trip across the Danube.
