Our history
A house steeped in tradition
The Goldenes Schiff has been in the family since 1907 — and to this day it remains a place where hospitality comes first. Its heart is the parlour with its roughly 70-year-old timber beam ceiling; alongside it, the cosy fireplace snug, the veranda and the shady oleander terrace invite you to linger.
The cooking is hearty, home-style and full of heart — the lady of the house stands at the stove herself, treating guests to traditional and international delicacies.
Wine culture
The wine grows in the family
Our connection to the Wachau reaches right into the vineyard: many of our wines come from Weingut Pöchlinger in Mitterarnsdorf – a third-generation family winery we are closely connected with. It farms around six hectares close to nature – certified organic since 2023 – producing Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Gelber Muskateller as Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd. You will find many of them in your glass here.
